New A2L Refrigerant Line Offers Enhanced Performance, Lower Emissions, and All-Climate Comfort for Residential and Light Commercial Use
Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC (METUS), a top provider of high-performance, energy-efficient HVAC solutions, has unveiled a new line of all-electric, all-climate heat pumps designed with low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R-454B, aligning with the 2025 refrigerant transition mandated by the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act.
The updated lineup includes popular indoor and outdoor models from the FX and GX series, as well as new SMART MULTI units tailored for larger residential and light commercial use. These systems are engineered to meet the comfort demands of a range of climates—including extremely cold temperatures down to -22°F—while significantly reducing environmental impact.
The use of R-454B refrigerant, a next-generation A2L class refrigerant, reduces GWP by approximately 78% compared to R-410A, offering a more sustainable alternative without compromising on performance.
“Our new A2L products meet and even exceed updated regulatory requirements,” said Mark Kuntz, CEO of METUS. “We’re focused on giving our partners the tools to transition smoothly while delivering the comfort and efficiency our systems are known for.”
Beyond environmental benefits, the new heat pumps feature increased efficiency, wireless control capabilities, and improved comfort modes such as Smart Dry. These enhancements support homeowners and businesses alike in achieving greater sustainability, energy savings, and year-round comfort.
With this launch, METUS reinforces its leadership in all-electric heating and cooling, offering next-gen HVAC technology that responds to both regulatory and consumer demands for climate-conscious solutions.
