Under President Biden’s Investing in America initiative, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced an $81 million investment to expand and modernize the nation’s air quality monitoring network. Made possible through the Inflation Reduction Act, this funding aims to strengthen community-level air pollution monitoring across the country.
The funds will support improvements in air pollution monitoring, the development of new methods for tracking air pollutants, and efforts to ensure cleaner air nationwide. Additionally, the EPA will allocate approximately $2 million to deploy and manage air quality sensors in low-income and underserved communities across the U.S. These investments are vital for maintaining a sustainable national air pollution monitoring network, protecting public health and the environment, and ensuring all Americans have access to clean air.
