Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, has announced the acquisition of Addvolt, S.A., a Portuguese company specializing in electrification technology for the transportation sector. The move marks a strategic expansion of Carrier’s electrification portfolio and further strengthens its leadership in sustainable cold chain solutions.
Addvolt brings to Carrier its patented, plug-in electric systems designed for refrigerated vans, trucks, trailers, and containers. These systems help customers reduce dependence on fuel while dramatically cutting emissions such as nitrogen oxide, carbon dioxide, particulates, and noise pollution. The technology is plug-in, non-invasive, and low-maintenance—an ideal fit for the transportation industry’s evolving sustainability needs.
“By combining Addvolt’s deep expertise in electric systems and power management with Carrier’s industry-leading solutions, we are well-positioned to drive innovation beyond refrigerated transportation,” said Edward Dryden, President of Climate Solutions Transportation at Carrier.
This acquisition enhances Carrier’s strategic capabilities with Addvolt’s real-time connected energy management software and cutting-edge power electronics, already deployed in Europe through the Vector® eCool—Carrier’s fully autonomous electric trailer refrigeration system.
Addvolt, founded more than a decade ago and headquartered in Porto, Portugal, was the first investment made by Carrier Ventures in 2022. The acquisition reflects Carrier’s continued commitment to scaling innovative, climate-forward technologies that align with its long-term growth strategy.
Addvolt’s team of 60 employees will now join Carrier’s Climate Solutions Transportation segment, bringing with them engineering expertise and a passion for electrification that will help fuel Carrier’s next wave of clean technology solutions.
